Nuts can be harmful to your dental implants - Dentist in Cancun

Nuts can be harmful to your dental implants

We all want to look physically good, we do exercise and eat healthy to have the body we always dream. We do diet, thinking that if food is labeled as “healthy” they should be in all respects, however there are some food that might be misleading.

The food we eat interferes directly with our oral health. It’s very important to brush your teeth after your meal but it’s also important to take care of your diet because even if that food might be nutritious it has the risk of damaging the tooth enamel.

An example are nuts and dehydrated fruits. They are highly recommended in many types of diet, but we must remember that some are rich in oils and others are sticky in consistency. In both cases it’s very easy to leave residues stuck in the teeth so don’t forget to brush them carefully and drink water.

In addition to the possibility of cracking the enamel, chewing hard nuts can damage dental implantsdentures and other orthodontic appliances. In this case, try to eat smaller nut pieces particularly if they are hard, or eat nuts ground in butters or spreads, such as cashew butter.

Don´t forget there are other healthy alternatives that can replace nuts and dehydrated fruits, such as fruits and vegetables but it is not bad to eat them from time to time.

One concern we all have or should have is dental health and that goes beyond having dental care insurance. To protect your teeth despite the type of food you eat you can follow these three simple steps:

  • Visit the dentist regularly.
  • Maintain proper oral hygiene.
  • Follow a healthy diet.
